Lightroom Presets !!! 3 black and white presets for just £1

I’ve been creating a number of presets over the last 5 years that I’ve been using lightroom,

so in my presets folder I have best part of 400 different sorts from black and white to colour, to high key and low key some duo tones and many more.

Ive never really thought that others may actually benefit from what I’ve been creating until today!

So after the eureka moment I thought why not let others buy what has been working for me with my clients but do it for a low price so that even the smallest of budgets could afford them!

So in the next couple of days keep those eyes open ! For the links to my sales page.. the three black and white ones will be the start of many more that will become available on our website! So please give this blog a follow to see notifications of when the hit our store front!

Also head over to our social media pages and click follow there! I post there daily and I’m always very active with my following ! Always replying to those who take the time to comment ! Or send DM’s

This is one of the presets that’s in the black and white preset pack!

10 things new photographers may not know 2/10

GET OUT AND SHOOT!

This ones simple getting out to shoot will reward you more than you think!

You will get to know your camera get to know the basic settings and what you like in the way of photography

See there are many things you can do just walking about the streets or in the garden with you camera just to get used to it! And the modes your camera has..

  • Macro photography
  • Landscapes
  • Portraits
  • Cars
  • Still life
  • Fashion
  • Simple street photography
  • Wildlife

These are all things you could be playing about trying it don’t matter that your not using the camera in manual mode it’s about learning the basics of the camera and seeing what you like ! the rest will come we all have to start somewhere!

The good thing is in the world of digital photography there isn’t and problem in filling up a memory card with images to see how they look and then deleting the ones you don’t like! So much better than the days of film camera when you had to take the images send them away and hope that you got the shot you think you did!

Here are a few basic images

10 things new photographers may not know 1/10

Looking or asking about camera setting!

We have all done it! It’s a learning curve!

Now you may not think this is a stupid thing to do! In theory it’s not! But what new photographers don’t realise unlike photographers who have been shooting for say five years is,

Unless you’re shooting at the same photoshoot, at the same time with the same lens and camera mixed with the same lighting

Reading or asking for camera settings are pretty much worthless!

I’ve watched many of hours from amazing photographers showing their amazing images, showing the settings that come with the finished image.

Now this can also be a bonus if your looking at the bokeh or amount of grain in the shot but that’s evident from looking at any image!

Once again so much about photography is about the moment and working with what we have! Be that the location or the model as much as the gear used!

Most new photographers done understand that what works for Sony users differ from that of canon or Nikon for instance !

Also it could be that one user is using a full frame camera and ones using a crop sensor !

All the above would result in less light or a difference in quality, and so many other variations from they think they will get from looking at the setting other photographers have posted with their images

In conclusion, the best things to take away from seeing others work and setting is to see the benefits of what you can get if you mix those setting with the right lighting,

And then look at each of the following !

  • Look at the eyes to see what lights modifiers and reflectors have been used.
  • Look at the shadows to see where the light is coming from up down left right so on.
  • Look at the background is is in focus or out of focus this will tell you why they have used the settings if there is bokeh or depth of field then the setting would be 1.4 – 2.8 … if it’s in focus this could mean that the lens has been set to f6.3 up.
  • Has any light been used at all or is it just natural lighting
  • Then if you try shooting you can pick parts and set your camera to help replicate what your taking . Set camera for back ground darkness and depth of field .. bring in subject and then add light to light the subject!

Portraits – location boudoir & beauty

This weeks it’s been about looking back at some of the images Ive taken and not actually used !

There are a number of reasons as photographers we keep a back stock of images that we have taken !

Not only to document what we are creating day to day or year to year!

But it’s great to actually take those images and bring them into the present day!

Now this might sound strange! But when we take these shots as photographers we are at a level that’s constantly changing ! We are always progressing and learning new things from styles to edits to poses!

It’s great from time time to time to take a day to look through you back stock and try what we have learnt to see if we can make something extra special from those files we put aside for a rainy day!

This week I signed up to a site for learning new things from lighting and editing to posing! And I feel I’ve learnt a thing or three !

So I got out the laptop and the hard drives and picked out a few images I’ve not yet edited!

To see the bigger pictures check out our Instagram page! You will see that there is a mix of edits ! That definitely captivate !

Below are a few thumbnails of what’s been posted!

What have I been upto this week! At Adrian Day Photography

Birthday week for me! It’s coming round to that time of year again ! Another year older for me and another year of being a photographer!

I’ve now been into photography twenty eight years! Wow how time has gone so fast!

I’ve not been a professional photographer all that time as I was still at school a good part of that and I took some time out before I come back to the art so now it’s been a little over 20 years picking up a camera !

Do you know what? There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t like photography! I honestly love what I do and enjoy everything about it! Even those times when I didn’t quite get the shot I was expecting! or that pose that just didn’t hit focus !

This week I’ve had a lot going on! Looking through where I have been and evaluating where I’m heading! What I’ve yet to accomplish and what I’ve already accomplished!

I’ve managed to get my work in places I didn’t think possibly on the streets of London and magazines that span the globe! I’ve also worked with amazing clients models and gained some fantastic friends along the way!

I’ve been lucky enough to use some great products cameras and locations that I’ve captured beautiful images I never thought I would create!

This lockdown has given me ideas and thoughts that have perplexed me! But also has shown me that even in the times we are working in! There is no reason we can’t keep an open mind and still be creative!

We are only held back by our imagination and today world doesn’t have to stop in the real world but the World Wide Web can open up endless possibilities!

So this week I’ve been busy !

  • Created and Etsy store.
  • Created a new dot com for Adrian Day photography.
  • Created a social media shop on my pages
  • Edited a number of images that I’ve revamped to today’s style.
  • took on E-learning ! (Yes I’ve been a photographer for 20 years but times change and it’s time to go with it!)
  • Also uploaded a number of images and links to Pinterest so people can see and maybe grow and get inspiration from my work!.

See now the view I have is that I’ve been waiting to long to do all the above and thinking that things will change!

Change only comes from doing something about what you want and need every single day! We can’t expect things to get better by doing the same thing every single day!

Okay guys and girls here are a few links for you to check out ! this is some of what I’ve been creating this week! Please if you like something show it some love ! Comment follow like it’s amazing to have your input and connecting with amazing people

Please let me know on here also if you like my posts so I know if I’m doing something right ! And hey it will be good to chat!

Now selling digital images on Etsy – one image up now more to come!

I’ve been looking into selling my landscape and art prints !

Today I made that leap using Etsy I’ve been signed up for a while now but never really taken that leap until tonight!

The thing with taking so many images and only really stock piling them on a hard drive it’s not making any money !

What this lockdown has shown me it’s time to take chances and try to see what you can do from being online! There are so many business making products and money online and doing well at it!

There is a big wide world out there and the web world has a opening for everyone! To take a chance and go do something !

So tonight I added my first digital print to my store

More images will be added to the page over the next couple of days .. images of all kinds of things that may just make for that perfect christmas gift !

If you do get a chance and you any to pop over there is now one of the shipwrecked images up for a great price! That’s worth it to anyone ! Once again pop along to the link at the top or even the one below !

Also let me know if you buy something from my Etsy by commenting below ! Between now and Christmas anyone who ordered a product of this link will be entered into a prize draw for a second image completely free!

BTW THE IMAGES ON SALE ARE DIGITAL IMAGES CURRENTLY, BUT MORE PRODUCTS INCLUDING PRINTS WILL BE ADDED SOON!

Adobe colour grade on jacks portrait includes my opinion haha

The difference that the new colour grade tool is making on images is outstanding

It’s possible that Adobe have created something will set it apart from other leading editing suits

I’ve used a number of editing tools over the years and I’ve kind of got bored with the same old ideas that everything needs to be photoshopped!

It’s such a misconception! I’ve been doing that get it right in camera and just do the basic of edit in lightroom

Now I’m a Sony shooter and to make life simple I use the send to phone Sony standard app that sends it in Raw and can be finished while out on location!

This works for so many reasons if you’re with a client and you want them to see the way the finished work is but don’t want to take a laptop /charger / leads and everything else including the kitchen sink ! Lightroom cc mobile it’s perfect and the great part is that as soon as you edit in the app it’s loading to the laptop in the studio!

Talk about the perfect mix ! Lightroom and Sony should join forces and do a deal that puts sony and Adobe users together at a great price!

Below are a couple of edits of jack

Saved out after colour grading and then returned to edit to black and white but to still have the graded mono look!
Colour graded image this to me has something a little different ! Have to say I really like the portrait of jack!

Find the images of jack on our social media pages ! Feel free to head over and show it some love! While you’re there hit the follow button I post every day! And I’m interactive with my followers ! Jacks post on Instagram
